Long-distance move from Nebraska to Georgia

Worst Experience Ever.

American Moving Systems (AMS) didn't deliver my items for TWO MONTHS after they said they would. My items were picked up on August 17th, 2015 and I was told they would be delivered on September 1st. On August 31st I called because I hadn't heard about a delivery time and AMS me it could be up to 21 business days AFTER September 1st (first time I heard that), but they couldn't give me an estimated date of delivery. I called daily to get an update and then they stopped answering my phone calls. Let me remind you that they had EVERYTHING of mine at this point. They only delivered my stuff once my company's lawyer got involved and wrote a demand letter.

Once it was delivered, I was missing one of my three wardrobe boxes that had all of my nice work clothes and dresses (approximately $4000 value) and a nightstand. Several items were broken.

AMS told me to keep track of all of the expenses caused by the delay and I would be reimbursed. I had about $2,500 in expenses in the two months (remember I barely had ANYTHING with me to start with). I went through the movingclaims.net process and it was a complete joke. My first settlement was for $66. I declined that settlement and received another settlement of $116. With the lost boxes, damages and delay it cost me about $6,600, and I got $116 back.

Please, I beg you, do not use American Moving Systems. It may be cheaper than other full-service moving companies, but you will spend so much money dealing with them.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Illinois

Move from Colorado to Chicago.

It was a nightmare of a move. The packing in For Collins was easy and friendly, but nothing went well after that. Besides the problem of not having a definite date for the arrival in Chicago, the unloading took forever, the driver requested more money than on the contract (with the threat that he would just drive away with my stuff), disappeared for hours on hand, hired two teenagers for doing his job, damaged the elevator and was unfriendly and unprofessional. In addition, lots of my boxes were crushed and the content destroyed. Some pieces of furniture, that they had packed, was damaged and a floor lamp was missing. When I tried to get some help, they didn't answer the phone. When I managed to talk to Stacey (she said she is the owner and is in Florida) she assured me that I would get reimbursed for all the damage. I filed the claim (for a total of $1500), send tons of pictures and never got a dime. I suspect they blocked my phone number because I never could get through again.

What I Expected.

Most of the time when I read these reviews they are either really good or really bad. The people who have experiences like me don't write anything. I thought Id go out on a limb for these guys and write a review about how things went pretty normal. They showed up within the window of pick up I was given. The guys look like normal movers. Some were over weight some were skinny all were reasonably dressed. They didn't have presses collard shirts like the shows u see on tv. They came in and were polite and did their jobs at good pace and left. I hate how people expect so much out of guys that spend their day moving thousands of pounds worth of furniture. A really hard job!! Which is probably why we are all hiring it done. lol. The guys were decent and did the job and delivered on time. Come on ppl what more can u ask. Anyway that's all I have to say except I would hire them again. Thanks guys good job. Ill call u again a a few years.

Long-distance move from Nebraska to Washington

American Moving Systems = total criminals.

Our move from Nebraska to Washington state is being done in two phases.  We used American Moving Systems for phase one.  Our experience with American Moving Systems was SO INCREDIBLY AWFUL.  We will be loading a U-Haul truck and driving it 1700 miles ourselves to avoid ever dealing with a moving company again.
Salesperson was very quick to respond to my inquiries..until they had my money.  I was given a two day window for pick-up of our items..truck arrived one day after that.  I was told I could pack items in plastic storage tubs with latching lids, no mention of needing to secure the tubs beyond that..moving crew wrapped packing tape around each end of each tub, 6-8 layers thick and charged extra for the materials & time.  Salesperson knew we had a piano to move and that we would need a shuttle truck at the delivery end and quoted an estimate of $2494..moving crew at pick-up added a 'piano handling fee' and moving crew at delivery required payment for shuttle truck in addition to quoted price.  Delivery driver ignored instructions to take the route that did not involve a ferry..and then demanded that I pay the round-trip ferry cost.  This gave us a final grand total of $3305. Moving crew damaged the floor at the pick-up address and left pieces of plastic storage tubs strewn about the yard and street.  Moving crew damaged floor and walls at the delivery address.
We scheduled a direct delivery..items sat 45 miles from the pick-up spot for 6 days, then went who-knows-where to finally be delivered 23 days after pick-up.  EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF FURNITURE IS DAMAGED, including a 100-year-old piano that had made it this far in its life with no major damage.  PLASTIC STORAGE TUBS ARE BROKEN AND MISSING ENTIRE CORNERS.  ITEMS IN TUBS ARE DAMAGED.  HEADBOARD TO A FULL-SIZE BED IS MISSING.  I am seeking help from American Moving Systems with damages and locating the missing item, but American Moving Systems has not answered my calls, has not responded to voice mails and has not replied to emails.
If you despise your furniture and belongings, then this is the moving company for you.  If you like to be scammed out of $800, then this is the company for you.  If you like to be completely ignored when you need help correcting the moving company's mistakes, then this is the company for you.
NEVER USE AMERICAN MOVING SYSTEMS.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Florida

Go with Atlas or Mayflower.

Is there a rating available that is less than one star?   This company utilizes the bait and switch tactic when booking their moves. As with other reviews, the sales people were quick to provide service and response - until we put down our deposit, then all communication stopped. After waiting the 7 to 10 business days they quoted for our stuff to arrive we tried contacting them, several times with no answers. Finally when contact was made (usually at 10pm at night) we were told that the 7 to 10 business days is not the total move time but the move time after some delivery window that was never disclosed in any of our paperwork. Needless to say we waited three additional weeks for our stuff. When it arrived the driver refused to pull the semi into the apartment complex and was threatening to hold our goods hostage unless we paid another 350 dollars (minimum) to trans-load the stuff into a smaller truck to drive into the complex 200 yards. After some 'discussion' he reluctantly pulled into the complex, not anywhere close to our unit) where I proceeded to move all of our stuff unassisted across the parking lot. Had my wife not been 8 months pregnant and the other mover feeling sympathy, I would have probably had to unload the trailer myself into the parking spot they put everything in as well.   Here is the deal - whatever these guys quote - add about 800 dollars more because that is what you will end up paying. Do yourself a favor and select a respectable company like OD or Atlas and pay the slighter higher costs to receive all the benefits of hiring a mover is supposed to bring.   As another word of advice - check the actual BBB website to view their accreditation IT IS NOT EXISTENT! They are falsely advertising they hold this by merely pasting the BBB logo on the site.

Long-distance move from Colorado to California

Fraud at it's finest! Run as fast as you can!

Do not, I repeat, do not do business with this company! Run fast! My husband and I made the biggest mistake ever by trusting in this company. We are a military family that trusted in this company to complete a full-service move for us from Ft.Carson, co to California in the beginning of June 2015. Upon scheduling our move, they required a deposit of $1,253.25. We refused to pay the deposit until someone came to our house to do a walk-through of our house so they could give us an accurate estimate on the amount it would cost us to move our entire household. The estimator that came out was extremely nice and very knowledgeable. He was able to answer all of my questions and concerns without any hesitation, which put our minds at ease. It took us a few days to make a
Final decision on whether or not we were going to do business with them. During that time, they called literally every day to get us to secure our date. We decided to go ahead and pay the deposit. Everything went as planned until the day of our scheduled pick up. They were supposed to be at the house by 9 am on July 6th to begin moving our stuff, but no one showed up and no one called. My husband called Stacy (the guy who sent us the contract and stayed in contact with us prior to our pickup date) to see what was going on. He told us that they couldn’t get on the military installation because supposedly the moving crew didn’t have identification on them to present to the gate guards. First of all, they all knew we lived on a military installation so why they would not bring identification is beyond me and secondly, I find it very hard to believe that not one of the four people in the moving crew did not have an id on them.
Instead of picking up the phone to call myself or my husband when they were supposedly stuck at the gate, they decided to leave and not notify us until we had to call them hours later to find out why they never showed. He then told us that they
Will do the move the following day, which was the alternate pickup date in case something were to go wrong on the original pick up date. He promised us that the crew would be at our house no later than 9 am. So 10 am creeps up on us and still no crew. We called to check the status and no answer. An hour
Later, he finally calls us back and tells us that the driver of the truck had to stop at the hospital in route to our house from Denver because supposedly his pregnant wife was having complications and was admitted to the hospital and the driver was not going to leave the hospital until his wife got released. Stacy said he was going to work on getting another truck out to our house that day and would get back to us. Hours pass by and no call. We called and called and called but no answer! At this point, it was already after 2 pm. He finally called us back and said that he could not get another truck for us. He then offered to cancel our move for a full refund! He asked for our forwarding address and stated that a check would be sent to us with our full refund within 10 business days! Besides the inconvenience that they put us through, we still had faith
That we would receive our refund as promised. 10 business days passed and still no check in the mail. We called and spoke to Allen (so-called the booking manager) to check on the status of the check. He told us that the check was just mailed and to anticipate receiving it within the next 5 business days. 7 business days have passed and still no check! We called yet again and was told that the check was returned to them because it was sent to our address in Colorado Springs instead of to the address that we gave them. And mind you. They confirmed the forwarding address to us on several occasions! Allen advised us that they will resend it and asked us to give it another 5 to 7 business days! Well, 7 business days have passed again and still no check!! We called, called, called, called, called and called, but no answer. At that point
They were ignoring all of our attempts in getting in contact with them. In the last voicemail that my husband left them, he explained his frustration with the company and his disappointment with their unprofessionalism and lack of communication. He also stated on the voicemail that he was going to begin writing reviews on the company so that other families will decide to not do business with them especially any military families in Colorado Springs, as it is known to be a huge military town and could potentially hinder any business that American moving systems could receive from them! Shortly after my husband left that voicemail, we received an email from “info@americanmovingsystems.Net" that the office was closed for the next 2 weeks and the owner stated he would issue a refund when he returns from Bolivia. According to the
Email, they didn’t have anyone in the office to sign checks. Once again they promised us that our refund would be issued, but this time it was in writing! They also stated in the email that the owner said if anyone writes any reviews
He will not issue the refund! So here’s my issue besides that fact that this company is literally holding our money for ransom and threatening to not give it to us if we write a bad review. We literally caught them in a lie because
1) they originally told us that the first check they mailed was returned due to them sending it to an incorrect address; 2) they said they present the check to the correct address; and 3) they send an email asking us to wait 2 weeks because the owner is out of town and he is the only one that can sign for checks. These excuses after excuses make us believe that they never sent a check in the first place, because if they did, why would they need to wait for the owner to return to sign a check that was supposedly sent not once but twice to us?!?! It has now been over 4 months and we still have not received our refund of $1,253.25! We’ve talked to this company a few times since then but it’s always an excuse after an excuse! Please please please do not do business with this company. They are not a legitimate company. They are a fraud and they will take your money – Shannon, Allen, Stacy (man), and Stacey (woman) don’t trust any of them. They will talk a good game in the beginning and completely screw
You in the end!

Long-distance move from Colorado to Arizona

Worst Moving Experience Ever.

This is our sixth move in 14 years and the absolutely worst experience ever. ·         Bait and Switch. The Company website says “We guarantee the absolute best rates for cross country moves in these cities going anywhere in the United States.”  Sebastian was our contact.  We did an inventory and came up with a reasonable estimate.  It also included 30 days free storage that seemed fine as we did not have a place to put things yet.  We then proceeded to sell most of our furniture except for the Master bedroom set and a China cabinet.  The truck came and they loaded it up.  Low and behold a new price – 40% more than the estimate that included all the furniture.  What a rip-off. ·         The company website says: “Our company is intensely client-oriented, emphasizing accessibility and personal attention.”  That is an outright lie.  I bet I called 25 times before I actually was able to talk to a real human.  Eva in dispatch said numerous times she would call me back that same day.  We never did receive a call from her in two months.  Sebastian would occasionally respond to emails, but mainly said that Eva would contact me.  Never happened.  Finally got a different department and Jordan and Allen did respond to my calls. ·         The Company website says “We love what we do and our passion for moving is reflected in our attention to the smallest details and the care we give to each and every piece we move for our clients.”  We lost a number of items in the move and some were badly damaged.  Have yet to see if they will do anything but I don’t have my hopes up. ·         Again, the website says: “We work our hardest to ensure your items arrive safely and in a timely manner.”  The contract says the delivery for the west coast will be from 1 to 21 business days.  This move took 31 business days with no explanations or apologies. ·         Anyway, please run away from this company as fast as you can.  I would not suggest anyone use this company for anything.

WARNING! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Should have done my homework first. I've been without my belongings for 46 days and counting. The old "bait and switch". Company was pleasant to get the sale; however, communication has been few, far, and in between. I finally filed a complaint on BBB. To be brief, everything they promised has been oposite. Delays, deceptive, avoidance, and non-communicative. They have my posessions & money..me, nothing. Who knows if my belongings will be in once piece IF it arrives! While I wait, I found out this company operates under a variety of business names. Not to mention, their "offices" are located in questionable apartments and homes! I could go on and on, but don't have the time. I come from a military background, moved around the world, and never experienced anything like this. FOR PEECE OF MIND AND TO AVOID HEART ACHE..DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Great People!

They were a unique and helpful moving company who handled my goods with excellent care. In the beginning I was naturally stressed but after about an hour was worry free and the performance from their movers was simply terrific. They were well organized, knew how to arrange a damage free service within a very tight schedule. I had a situation arise and needed the guys there a day early for the pick up and thankfully they were able to accomadate! All of my family members especially my mom liked them because of their awesome service quality. I didn't find any problem with my move besides some damaged cardboard boxes but no damage to the internals. If we need to move in the future, definitely AMS would be our first choice. Thank you guys for doing an overall excellent performance!

American Moving Systems.

My moving experience with American Moving Systems was pleasant. Choosing American Moving Systems was simple because of the great price they gave me. I was not sure how to pack most things so I left them unpacked.  I was told that all proper packing equipment will be on the truck if I need the movers to pack up anything. American Moving Systems did a great job loading my items. Everything look like it was pack very professionally, and when I received my items 14 days later nothing was damage. I was surprised and pleased. Thanks again American Moving Systems.

Thank You. Please Read On Why.

I have never experienced so much disrespect from a company.    Not only was the shipment late, half the pieces were either broken or missing. These possesions were my fathers who died this past September.    He loved his things so much for sentimental reasons: paintings, pieces of furniture passed down from his father, a chair that my father had livied in his whole life-even in his last days when he was dying from lung cancer at 65 years old.    I don't know how to explain the devistation we felt when are shipment arrived late, finding the paintings scratched, the furniture broken and the chair my father loved so much- MISSING!   The company assured us, they would take care of the shipment all the way through from Colorado  to Los Angeles, instead employed an outside agent, who aggressively hassared us for cash  and told us the comapny had out sourced him because he had a big enough truck and was heading to Los Angeles.    Losing a father was the worst thing a daughter can go through- but I want to thank the American Moving System for the added bonus of not even allowing me to cherish the pieces that remineded me of him.      PS Thanks also for never answering the phone. .

Don't use them!

If you want your stuff damaged and lost then go ahead and use American Moving Systems.  I have never moved long distance so I was hopeful when the salesperson (Tom in Denver) contacted me.  I booked the move and then things went down hill frm there.  The movers in Ohio were supposed to arrive at my sister's house to pick up my stuff between noon and 4.  They were also supposed to call when they were on their way.  Neither of those things happened.  They didn't call and they didn't arrive until 5.  She wasted her entire Saturday afternoon.  The driver said that they never take 3 weeks to get there but mine took almost the entire 3 weeks.  I had to call and find out what was going on.  The movers delivered my stuff at 8:45 pm!!  They lost my rug and broke quite a few things.  Also, they attempted to give me someone elses rug and metal shelving unit.  The stickers they put on your stuff fall off easily  I called and emailed about my missing items.  Initially I was told they would look for it but then I never heard anything.  When I called and emailed several people a few days later I received no return calls or emails.  They don't care about my missing rug because they have moved on to other shipments.  Nice customer service people!!  I don't think it would be that hard to contact the people you delivered stuff to and see if they accidentally received my rug.   Since their main job is moving people's household items you would think they could accomplish that.  They broke a mirror and picture frame that I had wrapped in bubble wrap and peanuts.  It was shipped from IL to NY with no problem but these guys didn't care.  The guy who brought it into my apartment set three heavy boxed on top of it despite the fact that I had "FRAGILE" written all over the box.  They broke several other things and scratched others.  Buyer beware!!

American Moving Systems - Thornton, Co.

Items picked up on June 22.  Admittedly we had more boxes than expected but when we had tried to call the day before to tell the company that, we were automatically put on hold for more than 20 minutes.  We called several times and were never able to speak with anyone.  The crew and driver that arrived the next day were very good.  Quick, polite and efficient.  And from there - it all went terribly wrong. We were told that we would have 30 days free storage.  But by July 2 (11 days after pickup) we received a call from someone called Josh (later called Sean but in reality that wasn't is name either) that we would have to take delivery immediately.  We didn't have anywhere to put the shipment and scurried around to get a storage facility.  Then we were told that there might be an additional $1000 charge because of the truck the items were on and it might be a problem making the delivery.  That driver was rude and abusive and hostile.  The items were then delivered on July 8 by a very polite crew.  They were quick and efficient.  And that was the last of any positive interactions with American.  7 items are missing.  We were told the outdoor wood furniture had bugs (pressure treated wood).  We offered to have it treated by a pest control company - we offered to have it picked up at their warehouse and so on.  Here we are a month later, e-mails are not answered, calls are not returned or answered.  We cannot find out where our items are.   And then we received a call saying they would be delivered in 2 days.  And nothing more was heard of that.  We have never heard from anyone about where the items are, if they are lost, damaged etc.  Please, please don't sue this group - the management is dreadful.  The worker bees are lovely but if there is a problem, which there probably will be, you are out of luck.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Utah

American Moving Systems.

I found this firm on the Net to make a small move for me. As a potential customer they treated me well. Once my goods were picked up communication became spotty and the dispatchers would often hang up on me or lie about delivery status when I called.  It appears the firm contracts with drivers to deliver the furniture. On the delivery day the drivers were stuck at a gas station because the fuel card provided to them from American was no good. I had to go to the station and bail them out as my goods were being held hostage. I paid the bill from the cash I had to pay the balance of the moving cost that was due at delivery. The drivers were very apologetic and told me that the AMS dispatcher told them to lie to me about the card and tell me they had a "mechanical problem". Under no circumstances will I ever use this company again. Beware.

I Wish I Would Have Done my Reserach !

My items were picked up by American Moving Systems during its window time on July 9,2015. I was told my sale rep Marc Manuel that items would be deliveried within 7 days. Well seven days turned into a month and some days. As previous complaints have responded/ reported and I WOULD AGREE!.. This company is good about making a sale but once your items are picked who knows where they go to next or if you'll ever see them again. I made numerous phone calls to customers service and dispatch and every time was lied too or rush off the phone. When I was inquiring about my belongings. I, myself made numerous phone and sent emails that were never answered. I was also lied to mulitple times by dispatch that my items were on it way and was even giving a fake driver name and info who would be delivering stuff. My items did finally showed up on Aug 17, and all my boxes were damanged including my bed and kitchen table (which I have to replace). My mattress was deliveried wet and dirty( not sure how it got wet and dirty). I also have several items missing and they charged me an extra $120 dollars for who knows what. However, I needed my items. I also found out that American Moving System hirings drivers from across the county and the driver that delivery my items hired helpers from Craigslist. I could go on and on about the disrespect, lack of communication, and thieves that this company is. So all in all I will NEVER use this AMS and will be filing a complaint to Better Business and contacting the police. For a peace of mind beware and just get a.

Long-distance move from Colorado to California

CO to CA.

We just moved from to Littleton to Sacramento , (August 1st) with American Moving Systems help. It was the best move experience we had so far and we have been moving around a lot! The crew was very professional, respectful to our home and on time. The sale representatives Jordan Cross and Allen Bagwell gave me so many great tips to lower the cost. They were friendly, honest and very professional. Allen Bagwell was our move- responsible person. He provided us boxes and all packing materials, since I asked to pack boxes myself. He is very friendly, and professional. The whole time, he tried to schedule everything on time with the different time zones and always was in communication with us in order to inform us with the new updates and other info. The loading and delivery crews at our homes also did an amazing job. Tony, Chad, and Roger were the names of the men who helped us with loading in Littleton. It was the most amazing thing ever to watch them be so careful with our furniture and boxes. The whole crew had a very positive, good mood which made our stressful day much better. Also, the delivery crew in Sacramento: Alvin, Raul, and Jose were very quick and professional. Everything was delivered to the 4th floor and assembled without even a scratch. I am so glad we chose American Moving Systems to help us with the move and we are very grateful to the whole crew who helped us move our home! Good job guys and keep up the good work!

Deserves Zero Stars - Nightmare.

Really wish we had done more research. This company deserves zero stars.    TL; DR - Do your research. Read all paperwork before you sign. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.          On moving day, we were told that the truck team would be there between 7-8 AM. By 9 AM, with no contact from the company, we had to call them to ask where the truck was. Truck did not arrive at our place until 10AM because half of the 7-8 man moving team was 3 cities away. Side note; though we were told this company was not a broker and/or did not work with brokers, the truck was a rented Penske truck.          During pack up, we had all boxes packed; they took apart furniture and wrapped it up fairly well. Getting all items out of the house and into the truck took about 3-3.5 hours. Never used a moving company before, not sure what to expect time-wise. As the team was moving the stuff out of the house, Leader A was quickly going over paperwork with dad, laying a paper in front of him and explaining what was on it, then requesting signature. Dad had so much paperwork in front of him that he had to just take the guy's word and sign and move on. MISTAKE. If they ask you to sign paperwork, read everything. Also, it's good to have all parties involved on your side there at the time. That way everyone has and knows the same story.           Also during pack up, Leader B was adamant that they'd have to deliver the truck to our new place next day. However, we had previously agreed upon a later date when hiring them as we would not sign for our new home for another couple of days. Leader A intervened and verbally assured us that they would be able to deliver the following Tuesday (day 3) "no problem". This was after he placed a call to the company.          When we close on the new house and arrive, we wait for them to show up that Tuesday. Again, with no first contact from the company, we have to call and ask where they are. Many On-Holds, "Left Hand not talking to Right Hand", and Not-Sures, later, we are finally told that they cannot deliver today. We have all taken off work to be at home since they verbally told us it would be this day. The folks on the phone then remind us that the contracts we hastily signed state they have 2-10 business days to deliver our items. NOT BEING TOLD this during signing, we all have only packed one suitcase apiece. We have hardly any toiletries and have not planned for a ten day wait.          Halfway through the ten day wait, we have heard nothing back. AGAIN, we have to be the ones to contact them to ask if they have an ETA for our stuff. As they are looking into our account, we find out that they cannot even tell us where the truck is. They could be in Mexico selling off our possessions, as far as we know.          Waiting, waiting, waiting. FINALLY, 9 days later, we are called and told that the truck and team will be at our address "at noon or before". We again all take off work at around 11AM to be ready to go when they arrive. By 1:30PM, no one has shown up. We have again received NO FIRST CONTACT. We have to call a facet of the company (in Florida) who also cannot initially tell us where the truck is, and they have to call another part of the company to find out before calling us back          When they do call us back, they say that our items are a state away and are being loaded onto a truck as we speak. WE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE that the items would be removed from the first truck. Keep in mind, this was not a large 18-wheeler with multiple houses' possessions. It was only our items. We are told to "wait just a little while longer" and "they'll show up". Finally, at 2PM, we get a call from the same folks in Florida. They tell us again that they are just now loading up the truck and will arrive in another 2 HOURS. We all could be working during this time but have had to wait because again, the left hand and right hand were not communicating with each other or their customer.          It's 3:15PM and we're all sitting on the floor of our living room. We have no furniture, no silverware to eat from, no beds to sleep on, and are continuing to wait on this truck. Though we hope it will be here today as we have been "assured" it will, we truly hope that you can skip this terrible, nightmarish company.

Long-distance move from Kansas to California

Is there a less than poor option? HORRIBLE!

I'm helping my aunt move and they hired this company. Moving is chaos anyways, but having horrible movers makes it worse. They are very hard to get a hold of. You pay a lot of money upfront. They never call you back and they kept moving the date which my aunt had to keep taking time off of work for. We ended up getting a Uhaul to put everything in her house in so that the people that bought her house could move in. We still waited for the movers and they were a no show called every hour on the hour finally got a hold of someone, they put her on hold, they came back and told us they would have to call us  back. They never did. They also never came. No communication just HORRIBLE. .

Long-distance move from Colorado to Pennsylvania

Horrifying Experience.

American Moving Systems is the worst "company" EVER. I had a horrifying experience with them ultimately ending up with my most valuable items stolen. This company is totally unprofessional they SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS!!

They gave me two hours notice of when they would show up. They showed up 4 hours late and at dark. Four men showed up to my apartment in the dark and "packed" my stuff into the truck. They showed up with a smaller truck and told me I would incur a fee because the bigger truck could not fit when the bigger truck could in fact fit. They charged me an unnecessary long carry fee. They used my toilet without asking. They broke my fan and shoved it into my closet.

They wrapped up my couch and then laughed saying it wasn't wrapped properly. Then continued to show me a picture of how it should have been wrapped and laughed.

They had me sign a contract in the dark that I could barely see. They said that I could pick a date for when I wanted my stuff dropped off and it would come that day.

When I tried to get in contact with the company about when my stuff would be arriving they said they didn't know. They consistently told me I would have to make myself available at their convenience, but couldn't tell me if the truck would arrive in 30 days or 5 days. I had to take off work unnecessarily more than once in fear they would show up and I would not be there because my storage unit was an hour away.

When they did show up they showed up in an unmarked truck not owned by the "company". The driver told me it was his first day working for the company and that he had hired someone off of craigslist to help move my stuff off the truck into the storage unit. They showed up with damaged items and MISSING items. I was missing 5k in items total.

When I tried to get in contact with the company about my missing items they blocked my phone calls and gave me the run around. Now they have completely disappeared along with my items.

American Moving Systems = Thieves.

I was going to hire American Moving Systems to move furniture from Colorado to California for a my new business venture. Shannon Nealy was the representative assisting me. They gave me a quote and we scheduled them to pick it up. They took a deposit of $350.00. I get a call from the driver on the delivery day and he says there is no way he will pick up this furniture for the price I was quoted. Instead he quotes me 3 times higher than the original quote. I say never mind and I will find someone else. He then calls me back an hour later saying he is inspecting the furniture. I then get a call from the warehouse where my furniture is saying that the driver is causing problems and they feel that he is not trustworthy. I then call the driver back indicating to him not to touch my furniture I will find other arrangements. I have made numerous attempts to get my refund of $350.00 back from American Furniture Systems and they still will not respond. They are THIEVES!! DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH ANYTHING. allen@americanmovingsystems.net - Alleged Mgr shannon@americanmovingsystems.net - Dispatcher Owner - Stacy Sue Kirk - (personal information removed, because of complaint by an user).

Long-distance move from Colorado to Florida

You Missing 2 Boxes? Me too. (CO to FL).

Delivery last week in FL - two boxes of goods do not belong to me & I am missing two boxes. If you had a recent move that may have been along a CO-FL route, please respond with method to connect if you have my boxes or want your espresso machine, Bullet, pots/pans, cooking utensils, pillows/blankets/zebra rug, etc. Both large boxes had light blue moving stickers #s 0001 & 002 (my stickers were red - driver must have been color blind). Calls and emails to AMERICAN MOVING SYSTEMS Customer Service (Tel. 720-763-9040, dispatch@americanmovingsystems.net) are not being returned so trying to find owner - and maybe my missing boxes - via Reviews. As far as the move experience - HORRIBLE. Every fear I had came true. Poor communication regarding pickup/delivery. Boxes crushed, furniture damaged (leg on a heavy wood chair was broken off). COMPLETE DISRESPECT for owners belongings. Clearly not just my belongings as the two boxes belonging to someone else show damage as well. UNPROFESSIONAL driver and dispatch representatives. "Holly" was helpful at Thornton, CO office. Looking through reviews, most negative reviews seem to have CO pickup location - same as mine - so recommend you AVOID this company working out of Thornton, CO. They took good money but provided VERY BAD service.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Arizona

Total Disaster.

They were 3 days late picking up and said it would be 2 to 21 days delivery time. They delivered in 27, but said they were not late because they don't count weekends. Boxes were smashed and stacked with large ones stacked on top of small ones. No heed was taken to boxes that were marked "this side up". My many phone calls before the pick-up and during the 27 days, were either not answered or I was told they would look into it and call me back. They didn't call me back. One thing missing is a part of a hand carved chair that my husband's great grandfather made. It was packed in 3 pieces. the back and cushions arrived, but the base with the arms and legs didn't. As soon as I discovered it missing, I called and Stacy said she would call the driver and get back to me. She never got back to me and is never available to answer when I call back. That chair has been in the family for over 200 years. It is irreplaceable and no good to anyone else. To file a claim I have to go through MovingClaims.net. It will take at the least 30 days to get a response and I have to leave everything that is broken just the way it is until then.  That means I won't have a kitchen table as it has a broken leg.  Not only was the move a disaster, the customer service is nonexistent.
I want my chair back!

Horrible experience.

I have used professional movers several times, most were good experiences but this movers was awful beyond words. Their communication is poor, they use unethical practices.  For instance demand a deposit, half the fee paid at pick-up and because I had to change where my stuff was delivered I had to pay the balance before delivery and then was charged another 725.00 for delivery to the new location. They demanded cash before they would even unload. They were late picking-up and delivering.  My furniture was damaged. things that were very well packed by me were broken.  As I've said I 've moved before and never had this kind of experience. I know how to pack things well. My mattress was dirty.  There was even dried grass inside one of my boxes. They were not careful at all.  DON'T USE THIS COMPANY if you care about your things!!  I feel as though I've been raped. I could go on and on but I still haven't even unpacked everything. I had a very small load and was charged way too much.

Long-distance move from Nebraska to Kansas

The Movers that Never Showed Up.

July 1, 2015   American Moving Systems,       I recently scheduled a move with American Moving Systems. I booked the move over 2 weeks in advance and paid the $350 security deposit at that time. I was scheduled to move on Saturday, 6/27, with the understanding that I had a backup date of Sunday 6/28 in the event the movers were running behind or mechanical failure occured.   Saturday 6/27-The day of the move arrived, (Saturday) and when I did not hear from the movers by that afternoon I contacted Lincoln Morris (the man who scheduled my move for AMS) via email. He responded within the hour, and stated that my move would be occurring on the backup day (Sunday 6/28) and reassured me that the drivers would be contacting me the next day to notify me of the pickup time.   Sunday 6/28-Sunday passed with me dutifully sitting by the phone waiting for the promised movers. For the second day in a row the movers did not arrive. I called and left numerous voicemails and emailed Lincoln Morris again. No one responded. No one contacted me to notify me of a delay. At 9pm on Sunday night I finally got a call from dispatch. They told me that my move order was never submitted by operations, and that the drivers were not aware that the move was scheduled. They told me they should be able to move me Monday evening.   Monday 6/29-Five hours was spent Monday morning trying desperately to get ahold of someone in customer service who could tell me what was going on. I spoke with Angela, Tina, Payla, Shelby, Margarite, and Frank.  All expressed their condolences for the mistake and delay and offered  ”to look into it” but none offered a solution. They offer to refund my deposit, but considering the time I have already invested, I decide to give AMS a chance to correct their mistake. Finally Monday afternoon, Margarite notified me that my move had been rescheduled for Tuesday 6/30 and that a carrier would call to confirm the time.   Tuesday 6/30- Tuesday morning dawned, and I called the customer service line to confirm my move. I was notified and assured that my move would take place that afternoon, and that the carrier would contact me with a specific time frame. Once again I dutifully sat by the phone for the movers to call. At 4pm I received a phone call from Frank. Frank notified me that my move would once again be delayed “due to mechanical issues” and that I would be moved Wednesday morning, bright and early, and that I would be the first person of the day to be packed and moved.   Wednesday 7/1-Wednesday morning dawned. At this point I was 5 days past my original move date (An entire business week). Once again I called customer service to confirm my move. The representative contacted dispatch, and confirmed that my move would be taking place between 10-12, and once again I waited. When noon came and passed I contacted customer service, and was assured by Kenneth that they would look into the delay and contact me. Two hours later (2pm) I received a call from Frank, the movers are on the way and will be there in 30 minutes! An hour and a half passes…no movers. I call again at 3:30pm and am transferred to the manager, Shawn, who assures me the movers are on the road now and will be there in minutes.   I describe in detail to Shawn the 5 days of constant lies I have been subjected to (“the movers are coming tomorrow, we promise”), the complete lack of communication and the fact no one responds to voicemails or proactively calls to notify me of changes-if I wasn’t on the phone for hours every day I would never get any information in regards to the move, and more importantly the time and money this 5 day delay has cost me. I explained to Shawn that because I was not moved out on my original move date (6/27) I was forced to pay my landlord $150 in order to store my belongings for the week. I was also forced to pay for hotel Sunday-Wednesday because of the delay (a $432 total).   Shawn acknowledged my hardship, but stated there was nothing he could do (not even a discount on the rate). He reassured me that the drivers were on the road to my house and would be there in minutes!  At this point I reached my tolerance level, the thought of sitting without the movers showing up and getting another days delay was intolerable. (I would like to note that the actual movers did not contact me until later that evening (ie 6 hours later not 10 minutes Shawn promised), and that evidently Shawn never notified them that I was no longer being moved by their company.   I demanded a refund on my security deposit and stated I would be taking my business elsewhere. Shawn refused to give me the deposit back. I asked how he could justify keeping my security deposit, when his company was the one who failed to keep the contracted move date of 6/27. And how they could refuse to refund me when I gave them 5 days to correct their mistake, and that the movers repeatedly never showed up and never contacted me with delays. Shawn refused to respond and never gave me the refund.  .
